In 1983, i’ve already 7 years of motobike practice (license at 16 years old) and I’m the happiest owner of a LAVERDA 1000 JOTA (French model without Hight Compression piston & 4C camshaft) nevertheless I’m already tear.
A friend of mine comes one day with a 1000 RGS Corsa & at the moment, it’s the shock.
Unfortunately my purse of the moment is desperately punt & to present myself this dream's motor bike cost 53000 Fr (8079€), (6 months of guarantee) it's seem an illusion. (it should be noted that the price was higher from 10000 Fr (1500€) compared to one Kawa 900 ninja!)
It’s many years later with the age of the greats changes (40 years old) that I find the rarity at Enzo!
After two three palaver, the business is concluded & I repatriate the beautiful one in my garage.
Begin a general improvement ( ignition, exhaust, admission, shock absorbers, servicing). A bad vibration makes me think of a problem of bearing, after whole disassembling of the engine it be confirmed that the axis of central piston turns blue, an oil lack certainly, change of the three axes of piston. All this master key well until coming unleaded gas!
It began with damage valve seat and an exhaust valve destroyed , cylinderhead repairs………
One september evening, it's the central piston wich bores ,with damage on the rod (500 km after the cylinderhead). A great distress seizes me and my wallet. Netherless, i find a crankshaft and hight comp. and reassembles the engine. Carburation is entirely re-examined, i change the admission rubber pipes, joined carbs to eliminate a possible air intake.
It was difficult to wait the end of the running in, but it set out again for the freedom of spaces. (I additive now my gas with Wynns).
Well protected behind the headfairing, the nice sound of the 3 cylinders distilled though the 3 into 1 exhaust i open gases beyond speeds limit and lawful noise.. Of course it's too long, too heavy, it's exceed by what is done today on technological motorbike, but with is 20 years old it's give you pleasure, driving pleasure, beautiful object, pleasure of the difference. So with your thooth brush in your pocket, ahead to the next host room !!
So in our aseptized and conformist world, i acknowledge that to be a Laverda's owner is a form of subversive life against the established order.
Thank's to Jean-Louis & at no-adherent of the no-club Laverdamania, goodbye sadness.
